#10 – The Products
Back in 1997 in a JoAnn’s Craft Store, I came across an issue of Creating Keepsakes. I had not been introduced to scrapbooking before and was intrigued with the magazine, so I purchased it, took it home and browsed through it. It wasn’t until I saw the advertisement on the back cover that I really got excited about scrapbooking. It was for a company called D.O.T.S. (now known as Close To My Heart). The advertisement was introducing their true 12" × 12" albums, cardstocks, Background and Texture papers, and Memory Protectors® to the industry.
It didn’t take me long to do a little research and I found a consultant in my area and attended my first workshop. My consultant taught me how to stamp with rubber stamps and heat emboss…which by the way…I almost caught the paper on fire! Never the less, I was hooked! I made a small purchase and took an idea book home with me and waited…not so patiently…for my order to arrive. I was so intrigued with the heat embossing I can remember trying to use my blow dryer and even my iron to heat the embossing powder because I hadn’t purchased a heat gun yet. LOL!
Well, to make a long story short…I never hosted my own gathering because shortly after finding my CTMH consultant, her family moved to Hawaii! It was then that I decided I needed to become a consultant so I could get my hands on more CTMH products whenever I wanted, at a discount, and delivered right to my front porch!
