H2H Challenge – Inspiration Photo

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!!

I am so excited to be participating in my first Heart 2 Heart Challenge as a new Design Team member! I’ve admired the works off all the ladies that have been a part of this amazing team since the beginning and I’m honored for this opportunity to design and share with you all.

Let me introduce the new Heart 2 Heart Design Team for July – Dec 2011…

Brenda Rose, Cheryl Even, Debi Barber, Haley Dyer, Jody Gustafson, Mary Vogel (owner), Michelle Auten and Pamela O'Connor (me!).

Our July Guest Design Team Member is…

Tracy Oleksak

Our two July Sponsors are…

Sandra Van Woerden and Tonya Whitehurst

Now, let’s get this show on the road…

This week’s Heart 2 Heart Challenge is to create a project from the below inspiration photo. Take a look at the photo provided - What inspires you? The Shapes? Colors? Layout?

What first caught my eye in this photo were the yummy beverages in the first section of the photo. I immediately thought of using the My Acrylix ‘You’re Sweet’ stamp set because of the variety of fruit images in it. My next step in the process was deciding on colors to use. I chose Tulip & Sweet Leaf with White Daisy.

While at the grocery store this week, I found some bottles of lemonade that I thought would be fun to decorate. For my project, I added two drops of red food coloring to turn it into pink lemonade. =) We will pretend it’s a yummy strawberry drink!

To create the wrap for the bottle, I cut a 9” x 3-1/2” piece of White Daisy cardstock and scalloped the edges with my handy-dandy corner rounder by removing the guard. I then cut a 9” x 3” piece of Sweet Leaf B&T Duo from the Wings Collection. Using sticky tape, I secured the wrap around the bottle (after removing the label that came on the bottle).

To create the medallion on the front of the bottle, I used a stamp from another set called ‘Tasty Treats’. I stamped the scalloped circle stamp once in 2nd generation Tulip ink and once in 1st generation Sweet Leaf ink. I cut out the full Tulip image and then the inside scallop image in Sweet Leaf and layered the Sweet Leaf scallop on top of the Tulip image and adhered to the wrap using sticky tape.

For the ‘You’re Sweet’ sentiment, I cut a 3/4” x 6” piece of White Daisy cardstock, stamped the sentiment in the center in 2nd generation Tulip ink and then scored the cardstock about 1/4” from each side of the sentiment and again at 1/2” past the 1/4” score line. Fold the first score line back and the 2nd score line forward. Trim the ends as desired. I put a piece of 3-D Foam Tape behind the sentiment and adhered it to the medallion.

I love these cute straw flags! I’ve seen them on A LOT of party theme blogs and decided to try one…super easy! I cut a 3/4” x 6” piece of White Daisy cardstock and stamped the sentiment towards one end using 1st generation Sweet Leaf ink. On a scrap of White Daisy cardstock, I stamped the heart-shaped strawberry in 2nd generation Tulip ink and the leaves in 1st generation Sweet Leaf ink, cut them out and adhered the strawberry to the left of the sentiment using 3-D Foam Tape.

Now It’s Your Turn!

I’d love to see what you create using the inspiration photo. Create a project using mostly Close To My Heart products and then head on over to the Heart 2 Heart Challenge Blog and post your creation under the appropriate challenge. Your project may be one of ten chosen for the Top Ten at the end of July and you may even win a prize at the end of the month and an opportunity to be a future Guest Design Team member!

I look forward to seeing all your wonderful creations! God bless,
